Cool. What are the pros in Ubuntu compared to other distros? I’m going to install one as well after my next format. I current have my redhat9 running with lots of problem. I was thinking of using FC4. What would you suggest?

    EngLee,

FedoraCore is just nice. I tried it once installed for my friend, but never really use it in real life.

    [Why Ubuntu?]
Ubuntu is clean & simpler, with one CD. It has another Live CD enable you to taste it (by reboot from CD-drive) before you install. One reason I choose Ubuntu because it’s a Debian derivation, I wish to go for Debian distro for my 2nd distro.

    [Why not Ubuntu?]
But beware, Ubuntu is designed for end-users. Therefore, it’s by default, missing those httpd, firewall goodies in its installation package (that’s why it’s small :P ). Well, but I think it’s better this way for beginner like me. If you are a geek, try Debian.

    [Ask around]
Read some reviews at http://distrowatch.com, and maybe go ask around. You might find some geeks in #myoss IRC.

Do show off your screenshot once you get installed! :P

[...] Just recently, I see that Toydi has just installed Ubuntu and Anurag installed Xandros. This reminds me of my long abandoned Linux in my PC. Maybe it’s time for me to reinstall or update mine as well. But, which Linux distribution (distro) should I go for? How about you? Do you run on Linux or have any Linux distro as secondary OS? If not, have you ever think of installing Linux in your PC? [...]

good choice. I went through about six different distros before I found one that supported my wireless card ‘out-of-the-box’: Ubuntu.
I now have it installed as the primary OS on my laptop and haven’t looked back.
